American football history was made in the UK on 9th June 2012 when the first ever fully kitted female tournament was held at the University of Hertfordshire.

Three teams took part (another pulled outjust before the tournament), the Hertfordshire Tornadoes, Portsmouth Destroyers and Southampton Stags in a round robin competition which saw the Tornadoes win the first ever women's title.

The second game saw the Portsmouth Destroyers taking on the Southampton Stags. Due to Portsmouth injuries they had to drop down to a 4 v 4 format. The game ended in a win for the Stags, 66 - 0.
